In recent years, with significant advancements in research methods and the understanding of cellular and molecular mechanisms, as well as the failure of some previous therapeutic approaches, the need for evaluating diseases and their treatments from a molecular perspective has become more apparent. This need led to the emergence of a new specialized field called "Molecular Medicine," which seeks to establish a connection between basic sciences and clinical sciences.
The primary goal of this field is to use knowledge of cellular and molecular biology to identify the molecular foundations of diseases and find ways for their prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Molecular Medicine, by leveraging rapid advances in medical and basic sciences, covers a wide range of activities that distinguish it from other fields.
Professionals in this field, by integrating basic and clinical sciences and utilizing the results of scientific research, strive to improve medical services. Therefore, the creation of interdisciplinary activities, which is a fundamental need of today's knowledge, is one of the strengths of this field.
While this perspective of Molecular Medicine has been introduced as an important approach in medical sciences, there is a clear shortage of specialists in this field. Given the significance of this discipline in today's world and the need to train specialized professionals within the country, the Molecular Medicine group has been established over the past few years. By utilizing the experiences of its members, this group strives to address part of the country's needs in this area.
The aim of this program is to educate students with the ability to identify scientific questions with a clinical approach, as well as the capability to translate laboratory findings into disease treatments.
